In Darmstadt, Pierre Boulez takes part in a round-table discussion with Bruno Maderna and Karlheinz Stockhausen on the possibilities that electronic music offers for composition.

At the invitation of Wolfgang Wagner, Pierre Boulez directs a new production of the Tetralogy by Wagner in Bayreuth. The production, which was revived five years in a row to great acclaim, initially caused a scandal.
